cyber culture

Cyber culture to my understanding is people with similar interests communicating through technology. This could be through e-mail, text messaging, instant messenger, or face book. These ways of communication enable individuals to talk to each other without meeting in person or taking up a lot of time on the phone.
I believe that my generation has been greatly affected by technology including myself. I often rely on the computer through email for my job as a girl scout leader when I want to plan meetings for the girls. I usually email my co-leader in order to find out what day is compatible for the both of us to have a meeting. On the other hand, a friend of mine lives in Africa and it is really hard to get in touch with her even through the internet. Most of the time I will use face book to talk to her and catch up. More specifically I am a member of the NEA, or the National Education Association, I use this web site in order to receive information about new proclamations that have come about within the education world. This web site is formated for those that are interested in the education world. What we have in common is education and we all go to this web site for similar interests.
These different ways of communicating with others in different groups. As a girl scout leader, as a friend, and as a member of the NEA. Cyber culture allows people to relate with others that have similar interests.

I also can read for a long time. Obviously, as a teacher, I spend more and more time doing it on-line. Many older (public domain books are avaialable on line too).
If you like novels, have you tried "The Corrections" by JOnathan Franzen? Its quite interesting and different.

I never knew you were a girl scout leader. Thats neat that they use technology effectively, it sucks to see good organizations that don't have any online resources.
